Mowgli For The Day || Halloween Photo Shoot

The moment you've all been waiting for (even if you didn't know it), Mowgli's Halloween costume! She decided she wanted to be a little garden fairy. I think it is a perfect fit for her. Luckily she is so magical that she didn't need much of a costume. All we needed was for her to spread her majestic wings (not too sure if those wings would be able to support her weight in flight, but I'm gonna let her have this one). So here she is in all her glory!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Halloween!

What I Eat In A Day || #2

Super simple and easy what I eat in a day for you guys. Little late for my taste in posting but here you go!

Gnight ya'll.

Vegan Goodies || Scones and Cookies

Guess what I found! Vegan scones and cookies at Whole Foods! I love sweets, but not nearly as much as my husband Zac. He can eat up some scones like it's no bodies business. So when I found these yesterday I just had to bring him back a ton. They were absolutely delicious! My favorite were the lemon scones. Mmmmmm. Make sure to get your hands on some.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

What a vegan athlete eats || Halloween Blast Tournament

I get asked frequently if it is possible to sustain a highly active lifestyle on a vegan diet and the answer is yes of course! I am not what you would consider an athlete. I am very active and enjoy sports but my brother on the other hand is a full blown athlete. Soccer player, track and cross country runner, he fits all of the criteria. And yes he is vegan. I thought that his Halloween Blast Soccer Tournament would be the perfect opportunity to show what he eats to stay prepared for the intensity of the games.

  • Two bowls of oatmeal with sliced bananas
  • Banana dipped in peanut butter
  • Banana smoothie (almond milk, bananas, vegan protein)
  • TONS of water
  • Grapes
  • Bananas
  • Mango Juice
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
  • Cliff bars
  • Several large boiled potatoes
  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Mango juice
  • TONS of water
  • Pasta
  • French Bread
  • Banana smoothie (almond milk, bananas, vegan protein
  • TONS of water

This is just a very basic sample of what he eats during tournaments. It changes frequently based on what he wants or how strenuous the tournament was. A key factor when eating vegan with a highly active lifestyle is to get enough food in you. Plant based foods are more commonly lower in calories so you really want to get those calories in. Remember to always stay hydrated! Vegan or not this is extremely important. By fueling yourself with the best you will feel your best.

Oh and hey the Dynamo Juniors got second in the tournament! So proud of my #11!

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Doc || The Plastic Cow

Today I had the pleasure of watching The Plastic Cow from Top Documentary Films. It was an alarming documentary on the consumption of plastic by cows in India. I was so taken by the shear amount of plastic that some of these poor animals consume. Unfortunately most products that are sold to us today are either made of plastic or wrapped in some sort of plastic. Just makes you think a little bit more before purchasing such un-environmentally friendly products, then throwing them in little plastic bags. In some situations it seems very unrealistic to avoid plastic all together, but there are so many ways in which we can greatly reduce the amount that we use on a day to day bases. Switching disposable bottles for reusable ones, brining reusable shopping bags to the store, very simple acts like these truly add up. We are not perfect, we all lead busy lives and sometimes we forget but the idea of it all is to try whenever possible. Really great documentary. Truly recommend it.

Doc || Maidentrip

This is actually a re-watch. It was so good I had to give it a second go. I watch Maidentrip on Netflix. And let me tell you, it was amazing! It tells the story of a young girl, Laura Dekker who courageously travels around the world on her sail boat, ALONE! It is truly an incredibly unbelievable tale. It makes me reflect on what I was doing at such a young age. She is such an inspiration to just jump into your dreams, that you can't always wait for the perfect opportunity but more so you have to create those opportunities yourself. Truly recommend this stunning documentary.  Also I just finished re-reading Frankenstein, almost forgot how terribly sad of a novel that was. But it sure did get me into the fall/Halloween/besttimeoftheyear mood. Ha! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Vegan Goodies || DAB Herb Makeup

So as of late I've been trying to get more natural products over all and that includes makeup. I don't wear makeup that often but when I do I want something natural and non toxic. Being able to read the ingredients and actually know what they are is a huge comfort. There are so many scary ingredients in today's bath and beauty products, I just want to sit in the tub with my coconut oil and tell myself that everything is going to be okay. Haha.

I came across DAB Herb Makeup on Etsy and fell in love. Their products are hand crafted, organic, vegan and cruelty free. That sounds like music to my ears. These products are super simple and no expertise is needed when using them. Just simple products perfect for everyday use.

Vegan Goodies || Pumpkin Spice Cinnomon Rolls

I never even thought that I wanted pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls, until I saw them. I hadn't had tubed cinnamon rolls since going vegan so this came by as a huge surprise to me. Trader Joe's Baton Rouge better keep it stocked cause we will be doing some serious munchin' on these all fall long! I leave them in the oven a taddddd less time than directed because I love the gooey middle. Make sure you pick some up while you still can!

Hope everyone is having an amazing Tuesday!

Vegan goodies || JoeScrub

Nothing wakes you up in the morning quite like a body scrub and piggy kisses! One might be a tad bit little easier to get than the other. Haha. JoeScrub is an amazing homemade, fair trade, organic coffee scrub. It doesn't get much better than that! The smell is absolutely intoxicating. A nice scrub can help get those not so pleasant layers of dead skin that we usually have, while moisturizing with it's perfect combo of oils.
The reason I love Joe is because it is completely vegan and cruelty free in addition to being free from crazy toxic ingredients. It's so pure that even Mowgli can use it! She loved getting her nose scrubbed. Many of todays bath and beauty products have insane ingredients that are absorbed directly into our body when used. We can greatly reduce the amount of toxins we absorb by simply looking out for natural products. But have no fear when you've got great options like Joe.
All you've gotta do it get your skin damp first then grab a bit out of the bag and scrub away. Scrub in small circular motions for a nice spa like affect. Haha. I love doing full body scrubs so repeat on your legs, face, tummy, or where ever you'd like. It leaves your skin feeling super soft! I like to use it about 3 times a week. If you're a shaver I really recommend using it before a shave. It helps smooth everything out to prevent any razor bumps.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!

Vegan goodies || Cereal and milk

Cereal. Pumpkin cereal. I think my life is complete. Not gonna lie some times the execution of pumpkin flavored things are not as on point as I'd like, but this cereal is absolutely amazing. Trader Joes Pumpkin O's are a new fall staple! Perfectly sweet but not over bearing, with just the exact amount of pumpkin flavor to get you fall ready. I paired it with my new favorite almond milk, Malk. Perfect snack to get you through those Halloween movies!

Happy Tuesday ya'll!

Cookin' || Peaches and cream

For the longest time I though you had to use milk to make delicious ice cream. Boy was I wrong. I am sitting here destroying a bowl about the size of my head of amazing nice cream (raw vegan ice cream) Let me show you how it's done.

Cut up about 8 bananas and put them in the freezer (mine are in an old salad container)
Let Mowgli eat the peels
Once they are frozen throw them into your blender
Add a touch of liquid, I used Chai tea but coconut milk works very well too
Add peaches and what every toppings your heart desires!

Super easy to make and very delicious and filling. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day!
